Monument to Adam West in His Hometown Has Yet to Materialize

As the tenth anniversary of the death of Adam West approaches, the project to build a monument in his honor in Walla Walla still exists only on paper and lacks the necessary funding to move forward. Launched after the actor’s death in 2017, the initiative has faced financial hurdles and has yet to advance to the construction stage.

The proposal, backed by local authorities and business groups, initially envisioned a bronze statue portraying West as the iconic Batman from the 1960s television series. A conceptual model was presented in 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted fundraising efforts and delayed the timeline.

Since then, the project has relied almost entirely on private donations, without reaching the funding level required for execution. Community discussions over alternative forms of tribute have also contributed to the lack of progress.

With no start date for construction or projected unveiling, the tribute to the city’s most famous native son remains symbolic. Meanwhile, Walla Walla still lacks a tangible homage to the actor who left a lasting mark as television’s classic Batman.
